I run a small premises in Longrock, Cornwall and work with a few trusted professionals as and when necessary. The nature of boats requires that we move for some jobs, and not for others; if my premises do not suit a project, then we will move for the boat.
My design experience enables me to fulfil the role of a draftsman/designer/CAD technician. I use Rhinoceros 3D to produce CAD models, 3D prints, bronze castings, technical drawings for use in construction and even scrollwork and logos.
I graduated from the Fine Arts degree course at the Glasgow School of Art in 2005. In 2008, I bought Marianna, a small smakkejolle from Svendborg in Denmark. My friend Jesper helped me to replace some planks. That year I applied to Museet Kystens Arv for work experience and spent two weeks helping (or not, as that may be) on a fembøring.
The following year I was accepted on the Ervhervskolen Nordsjaelland boatbuilding course, spent a year training there and applied for an apprecticeship in Chantier du Guip, France. In 2011, I completed my apprecticeship at Chantier du Guip/Lycee Edmond Doucet with a Brevet Professionel in Charpente Navale.
Later in 2011 I started working for Butler and Co in Dartmouth and in 2013 I began working as a sole trader. I’ve worked in different ways on a variety of projects, some my own projects, others have been sub-contracting for others.
